Other services
Certification of new equipment
From flow testing at the beginning of the project we also certify newly installed hydrant systems, we conduct a pressure test, a flow test, and a pump appliance test, then an inspection is carried out and a detailed report is provided.
If the hydro static test fails on the first attempt, we DO NOT charge to come out for a retest on the second attempt. We completely understand that no matter how well plans are executed, other factors can compromise and cause a failed test when testing the integrity of the main pipe line.
Repairing leaking hydrants
In many instances the washer inside the hydrant split corrode or at the sign of wear most people tighten the hydrant wheel (alexander wheel) tighter and squash and harden the washer inside and damages the spinal inside which can turn a small preventable job into a a more intensive job.
According to AS2419.1-2012 all hydrant system built after 2012 are suppose to have all the washers replaced and the spindle greased every 5 year intervals, this include the rubber gasket inside the check valve. Which is called a 5-yearly preventative. This will ensure your hydrant is operational in an emergency.
If the hydrant is hard to operate under emergency conditions, hinders operation, maintenance neglected, this could affect the outcome of an insurance claim.
Repairing damaged fire hose reels
Fire hose reels are in some cases used when they are not supposed to and end up leaking due to wear and tear. In some cases fire hose reels are are damaged by accidental collisions such as forklifts.
Fair Fire Services can supply and install new hose reels in place of old ones. We can also carry out installation of new hose reels for extensions, and newly built buildings.
Once a new hose reel is installed we will carry out a certification and provide a detailed inspection report with the flow and pressure. A minimum of 0.33L/S with two of the most disadvantage hose reels flowing is considered a pass, given the installation is carried out correctly.
